This presentation will be beneficial to anyone wanting to learn more about how to support developing social emotional skills in students. It will include a brief overview of the science of learning and why attention to SEL is needed in every classroom, especially in current times. The beneficial connection between SEL and academic learning will be explored. Strategies for supporting skill development that can be used in any classroom as well as resources and guidance to seeking next steps for further professional development and learning in this area will be offered. Brief overviews of Trauma Informed Care, Restorative Practices, Collaborative and Proactive Solutions, Self-And-Match, Thrively, Relationship Development Intervention, Project Based Learning, Inquiry Based Learning, Gender Support Plans, and Mindfulness will be included to build awareness and inspire further inquiry.
