Does your grading system align with beliefs around growth mindset? How might grades communicate which standards students have mastered and which still need improvement? In our session, we will explore ways to incorporate aspects of Standards-Based Grading into your assessment system and promote a culture of improved learning over time. We will discuss and interact with math grading rubrics, network with other math teachers interested in assessment, and discuss ways to use assessment data to inform student interventions. Resources will be shared to begin creating or refining your assessment and grading system to start the year.

Mimi Williams is a TOSA and Resident Coach for the Sweetwater Teacher Residency Program. She also teaches math at Mar Vista Academy in Imperial Beach, CA. She has been an educator in the Sweetwater Union High School District for more than 20 years.
