Who should attend? Teachers who have disciplines where students need to read text closely and analyze it for deeper meaning and understanding. Participants will reflect on reading comprehension or sense making skills where students require support. They will be guided through an activity from a literature class that requires students to read a passage from a rigorous text and analyze the text 3 different times with increasing depth with video and student samples. Participants will be given a template to apply in their own classrooms and they can use the activity to not only increase student understanding but use it to promote student conversation.
